Catholic Answers is one of the nation’s largest lay-run apostolates of Catholic apologetics and evangelization. It is an apostolate dedicated to serving Christ by bringing the fullness of Catholic truth to the world. They help good Catholics become better Catholics, bring Catholics "home," and lead non-Catholics into the fullness of the faith.
"A sure norm for teaching the Catholic faith", the Catechism of the Catholic Church published in 1994 is the catechism of the Second Vatican Council. When we are at Mass we are "at the foot of the Cross. " When we study the Catechism we are "at the foot of the Church, the mystical body of Christ."
Our Catholic faith is the largest Christian family in the world. Our Church is a vibrant and growing family, but we miss our brothers and sisters who have not been to Mass lately.
“We want to make it clear that evangelization means something special for us as Catholics. We can see what it means by looking at what happens to evangelized people. Not only are they related to Jesus by accepting His Gospel and receiving His Spirit; even more, their lives are changed by becoming disciples, that is, participants in the Church, celebrating God’s love in worship and serving others as Jesus did.” USCCB, Go and Make Disciples, 25, 1990
Pope Benedict XVI has said that the New Evangelization is simply showing others “the art of living” as authentic Catholic Christians in the world today.
The four parts of that are:
1. Conversion: Through conversion, we look at our lives, and then with an open heart, we allow God to change us. We change our perspectives and how we see the world, and we make God a priority. We pray more, study more, and reflect more.
2. The Kingdom of God: We help others to know God. We invite them to experience God in the Mass, in the words of Scripture, and in everyday life.
3. Jesus Christ: It is through Christ that we are able to begin to comprehend the fullness of God. Christ is the path that gives meaning to our lives. He gave us the sacraments which lead us to the Father and fill us with the graces we need on our journey.
4. Eternal Life: Our ultimate goal is to be reunited with God for all eternity. It is important that we help others understand this goal.
Faith and Evangelization Ministry committed to the primary vocation of the Church which is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the good news of his incarnation, life, passion, death, and resurrection. We do this through personal conversion that comes about through the Holy Spirit, by bearing witness to our personal faith, fulfilling our role as the laity, and growing in our understanding of the Catholic faith.
The goal of Parish evangelization aims to promote personal encounter with the Good News of Jesus Christ in the liturgy, in the life and works of our parish community, and in our faith sharing with others within and outside the parish. Through an ever-deepening friendship with the Lord, we hope to facilitate ongoing spiritual transformation and growth of each parishioner and thus respond more fully to God’s call in his or her life. If your heart burns with a desire to help others to grow closer to Christ but doesn’t know where to start, have we got a group for you. PRAYER FOR EVANGELIZATION
Loving God, you called each by name
and gave your only Son to redeem us.
in your faithfulness, you sent the Holy Spirit
to complete the mission of Jesus among us.
Open our hearts to Jesus.
give us the courage to speak his name
to those who are close to us
and the generosity to share his love
with those who are far away.
we pray that every person throughout the world
be invited to know and love Jesus
as savior and redeemer.
may they come to know his all-surpassing love?
may that love transform every element of our society.
we make this prayer through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCH,
PRAY FOR US.
